TEETH WHITENING

Dentistry at Dr C Jagadeesh’s Dental Clinic

Teeth whitening/ Bleaching is a cosmetic procedure that lightens the colour of your teeth by removing stains and discolouration.

Do you need teeth whitening?

Your smile is often the first thing people will notice about you.

Whiter, brighter smiles speak volumes about your confidence Only urgent and emergency procedures, by appointment, at the clinic.

With age, your teeth can tend to fade or appear dull and darker.  Some people may naturally have darker teeth whereas pigments from certain foods, drinks, or tobacco can cause discolouration making your teeth appear yellow or brown.

If you are unhappy with the shade of your teeth you can consider teeth whitening with your dentist.

What is Teeth whitening?

Teeth whitening is a short procedure which provides longer lasting results.

It is generally done at the Dental clinic. Sometimes your dentist may suggest home bleach for maintenance.

In- office Bleaching: First, your dentist will record your current tooth shade followed by cleaning and polishing of your teeth. A protective coating is applied on your gums. The whitening gel is then coated and left on your teeth for 20 minutes while a light is used to activate this gel.

The gel has whitening agents that break down the stains on your teeth making them appear lighter and brighter.

After 20 minutes this gel is washed away with water and a fluoride agent is brushed on the teeth to help prevent sensitivity.

AT-HOME TEETH WHITENING

Along with in-office bleaching, we offer custom whitening trays and provide you a home whitening kit with bleaching gel and a set of instructions so that you can whiten your teeth at your convenience

IS TEETH WHITENING SAFE?

Our teeth whitening treatments are safe. However, some patients may experience slight tooth and gum sensitivity from the bleaching gel. This sensitivity is temporary and should subside shortly after your treatment.

IS TEETH WHITENING PERMANENT?

Teeth whitening can last long if you properly care for your teeth after your treatment.

Foods like tomato sauce, grapes, berries, vinegar are very acidic and can leave your teeth more vulnerable to stains. Foods that contain colours such as turmeric and beverages like coffee, dark teas, red wine, sugary drinks and sodas can also stain your teeth. Avoid or limit these foods to  help your teeth whitening results last longer.
